RDF - Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF)

The EGF RDF is the final material that results from the process of sorting, mechanical and biological treatment, after removing all recoverable materials. This material has a high calorific value and can be used as fuel instead of the use of fossil fuels. It consists mainly of plastics, paper products, rubbers, textiles and wood that cannot be recycled. The use of RDF allows a significant reduction of CO2 emissions, and in Portugal there is already a consumer market for RDF that includes cement plants, thermoelectric power plants, pulp and paper industry or the ceramic industry.
