Protect the Forest - this is Algar's latest campaign, EGF's concessionaire for the Algarve region with the Institute of Nature Conservation and Forests - Algarve (ICNF). The campaign reflects the concern of both entities to make the Algarve greener and resilient to climate change, and will take place at all Algar facilities (www.algar.com.pt), starting on December 17th.
Customers coming to the company's facilities to deliver waste will receive forest plants from the ICNF Forest nurseries (holm oaks or cypresses) and bags of the NUTRIVERDE® compost produced by Algar through green waste. The objective of this action is to sensitize the population to the importance of forest protection, especially given the numerous fires that have been felt in our country and in particular in the region. The consequences are harmful, they affect biodiversity, sometimes extinguishing plants and animals, strip soil that in extreme atmospheric conditions, such as heavy rains, suffer dragging and loss of land. The initiative aims to encourage the Algarvians to plant a tree, as a way of contributing to the increase of plant cover and preservation of ecosystem services in the region.
NUTRIVERDE® is produced by ALGAR from green waste. It is a 100% natural organic compound that, besides being not aggressive and polluting to nature, brings numerous benefits to the soil, as it combats erosion and improves its physical, chemical and biological properties. Its excellent quality promotes higher yields in agricultural crops.
NUTRIVERDE® can be purchased at ALGAR's premises during the hours of operation. The company has 3 Green Composting Units in operation, in Portimão, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira. NUTRIVERDE® deliveries can be made by ALGAR, under conditions to be agreed with the customer.
Currently the sale of NUTRIVERDE® and NUTRIVERDE PREMIUM® is carried out in bulk and in big bag (packing with about 800 kg). For more information about NUTRIVERDE® see www.algar.com.pt
