The Ecovalor Program aims to promote good environmental practices in educational establishments, rewarding those who perform better in recycling their used packaging.

CONTEST SEPARATES AND WIN!

The contest “Separate and win”, which is part of this project, aims to reward schools that recycle their used packaging.

This initiative benefits schools by giving them logistical support (supports for bags, sacks and selective collection), in addition to awareness-raising actions carried out by environmental action monitors.

With the suspension of face-to-face activities in schools between January and March this year, many of the actions scheduled with schools were transferred to ONLINE.

There were 94 educational establishments that participated in the Ecovalor Program for the 2020/21 academic year, with more than 31 thousand participants, including students, teachers and assistants who, despite the pandemic, implemented good waste reduction and reuse practices and recycled 588 tons of packaging.

All these schools sent to recycle 216 tons of paper and cardboard, 210 tons of glass and 162 tons of plastic, metal and beverage packages. Material separated by students was sent for recovery and each school will receive its prize based on the amount recycled.

Algar will award prizes to schools for each ton of plastic/metal, paper/cardboard and glass, which educational establishments managed to send for recycling, during the 2020/21 school year.

Some of the schools that participated in ECOVALOR, in addition to recyclable packaging, also dedicated themselves to the separation of waste electrical and electronic equipment, the result of a partnership between Algar and Eletrão, which resulted in a total of 21,067 kg sent for recovery. These schools will receive an extra bonus for their performance.
