ALGAR, EGF Concessionaire for the Algarve region, has an investment of EUR 1,415 thousand (one million, four hundred and fifteen thousand euros) in the purchase of containers for selective collection. This is a very significant project for the region, co-financed by the Operational Program for Sustainability and Efficiency in the Use of Resources (POSEUR), Portugal 2020 and the European Union through the Cohesion Fund.

According to the Executive Administrator of the company Telma Robim «Algar with this project is improving the service provided. The intervention will reach sites not yet covered, increasing the storage capacity of recyclable waste, the accessibility to selective collection and the environmental quality of people's lives. "

The company has acquired 781 new containers which is enabling a growth of 7,827m3 in deposition capacity, corresponding to an increase of about 30% in the number of containers made available to the Algarve population.

Did you know that in 2017, the ALGAR when forwarding for recycling:

• 601 tons of paper / carton, collaborated to keep alive 189,015 trees?
• 295 tons of PET, contributed to the production of sufficient fiber destined for the confection of 1,593,846 polar sweaters?
• 039 tons of glass, contributed to the manufacture of 37,597,500 new glass bottles?

Remember that in the containers for selective collection only packaging waste should be placed. In the container Yellow - the plastic, metal and liquid food cartons in the container Green - the glass containers and the container Blue - paper and paper and cardboard packaging.
