Algar, EGF Concessionaire in the Algarve Region and responsible for the valorization and treatment of urban waste produced in the 16 municipalities of Algarve, renewed the certification of the Integrated Quality, Environmental and Safety Management System implemented, with transition to the new normative references NP EN ISO 9001: 2015 (Quality) and NP EN ISO 141001 of 2015 (Environment).

 

According to the Delegate Administrator of Algar, Telma Robim, "the company was audited between November 21 and 24, and it was considered by the certification entitity, APCER, that the conditions necessary for the Transition of the Integrated Management System were met, implemented in all administrative, support and operational units, namely: the Selective Collection activity; 2 Sanitary landfills; 8 Transfer Stations; 13 Ecocentres; 2 Transfer Stations; 3 Biogas Energy Enhancement Units; 3 Composting Units of Green Residues; 3 Leachate Treatment Units and 1 Organic Valuation Plant. All the facilities and activities of the company remain certified, leaving us very satisfied ".

 

The confirmation of the maintenance / transition of the certification acknowledges that the management of Algar's multimunicipal system of selective collection, waste transfer, sorting and solid waste treatment is carried out with respect for high standards of service quality, taking into account the treatment of about 400,000 tons of municipal waste per year.

 

Among the innumerable internal and external advantages inherent in Algar's Integrated Management System are the adoption of principles for the prevention of pollution, as well as the reduction of resource use and the application of compensatory measures in technical and organizational options, with a view to the minimization of environmental impacts, the reinforcement of training and the satisfaction of employees, customers, stakeholders and society.
