Algar, EGF's concessionaire in the Algarve region, is promoting the social responsibility campaign TONELADAS DE AJUDA, an EGF campaign on recycling of packaging for solidarity purposes, which is aimed at all IPSS located in the Algarve region.

This campaign aims to value all recyclable waste that registered institutions want to deliver to Algar, namely plastic, metal, paper, cardboard and glass packaging, in exchange for a financial contribution.

To promote the initiative, Algar, represented by the Executive Directors Engª Telma Robim and Engº José Barreto, and Banco Alimentar Algarve, represented by the Chairman of the Board Dr. Nuno Alves and the Treasurer of the Board José Pinto, signed a cooperation protocol last day January 22nd at the Algar Environmental Education Center that works at the Albufeira Ecocenter.

Algarve's Food Bank becomes the first institution in the region to join the campaign, having delivered, on the same day, 1700 kg of paper / cardboard and 360 kg of plastic / metal to Algar's facilities. The Algarve institution provides support to 106 IPSS that will also contribute to the separation and delivery of recyclable packaging waste. The financial contribution will be used to purchase food to reinforce baskets of families supported by the institution.

RECYCLE AND HELP THE ONES WHO NEED THE MOST!

HOW IT WORKS?

To participate it is necessary to register with Algar by email geral@algar.com.pt. After receiving the data, a client file will be opened that will work as a current account for each institution in order to quantify the weight of the material delivered, and then a weighing slip will be made available.

WHERE?

The deliveries of materials must be made directly to Algar's facilities, namely, to the Sorting Units, Transfer Stations and Ecocenters, located in the Municipalities of: Albufeira, Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Lagos, Loulé, Tavira, Vila do Bispo, Quarteira and Portimão (locations and times at www.algar.com.pt).

Deliveries made by other entities will also be accepted as long as they are made on behalf of an IPSS already registered in the campaign.
