Fishing for a Sea Without Garbage arrived in Setúbal - Amarsul, the EGF concessionaire for the Setúbal peninsula, developed a partnership with DOCAPESCA for this project, by providing a dedicated container to the separation of plastic packaging produced on board fishing vessels.

 

 

After the start in Peniche, Ilha de Culatra, Aveiro, Figueira da Foz and Sesimbra, the project The Fishing for a Sea Without Garbage has now been extended to this fishing port, in an initiative of the Ministry of the Sea that is being developed by Docapesca in partnership with the Portuguese Lixo Marinho Association (APLM).

 

 

 

The project counts on the participation of Setubalpesca, SESIBAL, Bivalmar, Setúbal City Hall, Setúbal Freguesias Union, Amarsul, Setúbal and Sesimbra Ports Administration, Ocean Alive and For-Mar.

 

Fishing for a Waste Free Sea aims to improve the management of waste generated on board and captured in fishing gear at sea, promoting the recovery and recycling of such waste.

 

This project brings together fishermen and ports, improving the environmental conditions of the Portuguese coastal zone and preserving marine ecosystems, involving 1074 fishermen, 310 vessels, 23 partner entities and 13 associations and producer organizations.
