Amarsul, EGF's concessionaire in the Setúbal peninsula, wins an energy efficiency award.

The prize refers to the Palmela ecopark, which won a prize for the results obtained in the reduction of specific energy consumption, under the SGCIE - Energy Intensive Consumption Management System.

This facility gains special visibility with the adoption of good practices by exceeding the targets set for all energy performance indicators, achieving a reduction of over 200% compared to the legal targets of the energy consumption rationing plan (PREN), with the recovery of biogas for the production of electric energy and through the installation of solar thermal system for the production of AQS (Sanitary Warm Waters).

The savings resulting from this measure, through the production of electricity with endogenous resources, contributed significantly to the achievement of the energy performance targets.

The award was presented by the Secretary of State for Energy and Energy Transition - João Galamba, at an event organized by the General Direction of Energy and Geology, with the support of the Order of Engineers, last December 2018, at the Headquarters of the Order of Engineers, in Lisbon, during the event "Energy Efficiency: the Road to a More Competitive Industry".

The SGCIE applies to a set of companies and facilities to increase their energy efficiency taking into account the need to safeguard their competitive base in the global economy. With this award from the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology, Amarsul recognizes its continuous work and is making a significant contribution to national goals, in favor of a better environment, not only through its activity in the treatment of municipal and selective collection of recyclable waste, but also in the management of energy resources.
