EcoPraias River Campaign

Setúbal Peninsula is known for the quality and natural beauty of its sea and river beaches. Following the current sea beaches campaign, EcoPraias now reaches four river beaches in August: Alburrica, Gaio-Rosário, Moinhos and Samouco.
 
This awareness-raising program takes place within the scope of a partnership between the Municipal Councils of Alcochete, Barreiro, Moita and Amarsul, and is aimed at the general population. The initiative will be promoted by Amarsul and will take place at the entrance of each beach, with a particular focus on recycling bins, as to promote its use.


The importance of recycling by the sea it is also applied to the river, thus, these four beaches are being served by equipments that allow the population to deposit their packages, diverting waste from landfills and rivers.


Awareness actions will be carried out at the entrance of each beach - respecting the rules of social distance - from 9am to 1pm on the following days:
  • Municipality of Barreiro: 2nd and 22nd of August, at Alburrica Beach.
  • Municipality of Moita: 9th and 23rd of August, at Praia do Gaio Rosário.
  • Municipality of Alcochete: 16th of August, at Moinhos Beach and 29th of August, at Samouco Beach.

The campaign will be in 41 beaches across the region, where monitors will continue to distribute bags for placing waste, alerting bathers for the importance of recycling and indicating the places where the recycling bins are installed, so that they can deposit their waste correctly at each beach exit.

 

Amarsul made available, on its page, the safety measures that must be taken into account when going to the beach. By following these measures, the population will be promoting a safe and sustainable way of going to the beach. Keep social distancing in the first place, and don't forget to recycle always and everywhere, whether that be by the sea or by the river.
