During the month of August, in partnership with the Living Science Center of the Algarve, Algar is participating in the project Ciência Viva in the Summer in Network. It is an initiative that integrates more than 800 free participation actions throughout the country, for all ages, involving the Living Science Centers, institutions, scientific associations, municipalities and companies.

This year the highlight is the rivers, their ecosystems and the services they continue to provide, despite the enormous environmental impacts to which they are subject.

It is the second consecutive year that the Algarve Living Science Center invites Algar to participate in the project, an initiative that takes place annually throughout the country, between July 15 and September 15. Algar will be available to receive visitors at the Faro / Loulé / Olhão Transfer and Sorting Station.

By 2017, the experience was extremely positive. The visitors who signed up for Algar activity were mainly families, mostly from other parts of the country. Their motivation to participate in this initiative was to seek answers about what happens to undifferentiated waste and recyclables after they are collected and sent to the Multi-Municipal Systems for recovery and / or treatment. Some visitors reconciled to their stay in the Algarve region, together with their children, to learn about the waste treatment process and to collect informative contents for the young people to use in school work in the next school year.

Let the invitation, take the science in your suitcase on vacation. Check the Live Science Summer Program in Network and reserve your places on www.cienciaviva.pt. Visits to the Algar facility are subject to prior registration on the platform.
