Within the contest "Better performance, More Recycling", promoted by Sociedade Ponto Verde and the company Tetra Pack, Resiestrela was one of the municipal waste management systems with one of the highest growth rates of ECAL take-back for recycling, in the year 2022, so it was awarded with a monetary value that will be given to a social association.

In 2022, Resiestrela recorded a 19% growth in the number of cartons for liquid foods (milk, juice, cream packages, etc.), collected and sent for recycling, compared to 2021.

This award is a sign of the work and dedication of the entire community of the 14 municipalities that integrate the Resiestrela system, namely the municipalities of Almeida, Belmonte, Celorico da Beira, Covilhã, Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Fornos de Algodres, Fundão, Guarda, Manteigas, Meda, Penamacor, Pinhel, Sabugal and Trancoso. It is the result of many communication actions that are implemented in these municipalities in order to involve and make people responsible for the importance of multimaterial separation.

Furthermore, social responsibility campaigns have been dynamised, aimed at schools and IPSS, as well as awareness campaigns for the door-to-door collection service customers (commerce, companies and services), which demonstrates the importance of the active participation of the whole community.

We would also like to highlight all the effort of the Resiestrela team, which works every day with a strong sense of responsibility and mission, so that recyclable waste from the ecopoints, the door-to-door collection service and the ecocentres is collected and recovered, and then sorted by type to ensure that all recyclable material is sent for recycling, thus not having the landfill as its final destination.

Our goal is, only one, to serve the population of the 14 municipalities, so that all waste produced is collected and sent for recovery through recycling processes, contributing to the implementation of a circular economy in the region.

The managing director Nuno Heitor recognises that "This award is the result of the effort and dedication of all Resiestrela's employees who daily perform their work, with a strong spirit of service and citizenship".
