Resiestrela SA, the company responsible for the management of the Multi-municipal System for Selective Collection, Valuation and Treatment of Urban Solid Waste of Cova da Beira, renewed the certification of its Integrated System for Quality, Environment and Safety, Hygiene and Health Management in According to the main national normative references.

The renewal of the certification of the Integrated Management System - Quality, Environment and Safety was obtained after the certification body TÜV Rheinland Portugal completed the necessary annual audit.

This renewal thus acknowledges Resiestrela's orientation towards the continuous improvement of its performance and the good practices implemented in the day-to-day management of its processes.

The Certification involves all processes and activities of Resiestrela (management, recovery and treatment of solid waste, collection and processing of recyclable materials, production of electricity, administrative and financial procedures, among others) and covers the facilities of the Waste Treatment Center Urban Solids of Cova da Beira (located in Fundão), and Transfer Stations and Ecocentros located in the municipalities of Almeida, Belmonte, Celorico da Beira, Fornos de Algodres, Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Fundão, Guarda, Manteigas, Mêda, Penamacor, Pinhel, Sabugal and Trancoso.

The pursuit of this Integrated Management System aims, in general, to establish objectives and goals for the continuous improvement of the company's performance, as well as the full compliance with all legal requirements inherent to the Resiestrela activity.

In the Safety and Hygiene at Work component, the Certification aims to prevent work incidents, occupational diseases and damage to the health of all workers at Resiestrela, S. A . With regard to the Environment, Certification becomes an indispensable tool for the prevention of pollution and minimization of environmental impacts through the use of Best Available Techniques and best practices used in the solid waste management sector.

About Resiestrela
Resiestrela, SA is responsible for the concession of the Multimunicipal System of Sorting, Selective Collection, Valorization and Treatment of Urban Solid Waste (RSU's) from the Municipalities that integrate the System (Almeida, Belmonte, Celorico da Beira, Covilhã, Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Fornos de Algodres, Fundão, Guarda, Manteigas, Meda, Penamacor, Pinhel, Sabugal and Trancoso).

In the management of the system, waste from the undifferentiated collection carried out in 14 municipalities is managed, treated and appreciated by Resiestrela. S.A. Waste from the selective collection carried out by Resiestrela S.A., coming from 14 Municipalities are managed, sorted and sent for recycling.

The system currently serves a population of about 194,000 inhabitants, which is equivalent to about 2% of the national population, with an area of ​​6,160 km2, which corresponds to about 7% of Portuguese territory.
The Resiestrela SA Management System is certified by TÜV Rheinland Portugal in accordance with the requirements of NP EN ISO 9001: 2015 - Quality, NP EN ISO 14001: 2015 - Environment and OHSAS 18001: 2007 - Safety, Hygiene and Health at Work.
