Valorlis will reinforce the network of green ecopoints with the availability of 250 glass bins to serve the population in the municipalities of Batalha, Leiria, Marinha Grande, Ourém, Pombal and Porto de Mós, in the first half of 2020.

The placement of green ecopoints for glass separation aims to increase the amount of glass sent for recycling and complements the investment in strengthening the ecopoint network that Valorlis has been undertaking in its intervention area.

This investment will be concluded with the acquisition of two heavy vehicles dedicated to the collection of glass that have an innovative collection box that will allow for better conditioning of the collected waste.

The provision of these means, belonging to Valorlis' investment plan in the amount of 1.8 million euros co-financed by POSEUR - Operational Program for Sustainability and Efficiency in the Use of Resources, aims to increase the quantities of waste collected selectively.

In 2019, Valorlis installed in its intervention areas 213 ecopoints of 1,000l; 247 ecopoints of 2,5 m3 and 120 glass ecopoints were placed next to the HORECA Canal - hotels, restaurants, cafes and associations, where there is a greater production of glass containers.

Marta Guerreiro, Managing Director of Valorlis, explains that “the deposit of glass containers, such as bottles, flasks and jars in ecopoints, is still far from reaching the desirable rates, which justifies an investment by the company in equipment for the deposition of glass." He adds that “the placement will be reinforced with the availability of 240l containers for glass separation in the HORECA Canal and with awareness actions for the correct use of ecopoints, increasing the recycling habits of the population”.
