Valorsul, an EGF concessionaire in the Lisbon and West regions, integrates a financing application under the EEA Grants Program with the InRoads - Innovative and Green Residue-Based Noise Barriers for Roadways project, together with Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and the University of Coimbra.

EEA Grants is a multi-annual financial mechanism established between the members of the European Economic Area Agreement (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and the member states of the European Union with the largest deviations from the European average of GDP per capita, including Portugal. This relationship aims to promote a continuous and balanced reinforcement of economic and commercial relations through financial support.

The project proposes the development of an innovative solution for the construction of prefabricated acoustic barriers betting on the reuse of artificial aggregates produced from slags from the incineration of urban waste.

As part of the competition - Projects for the Promotion of Circular Economy in the Construction Sector - of the "Environment, Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy" Program, the project will allow to mitigate noise induced by road traffic, which will significantly contribute to an improvement in the quality of life of the populations neighboring the places where this solution will be implemented and to attenuate the ecological footprint of the civil construction sector.
